A newly retired U.S. judge is admitting that during his long tenure on the bench, his constitutional oath meant literally nothing and neither did the rule of law.
Instead, U.S. Judge Richard Posner, 78, like many progressive leftists, put himself above both the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law, making it up as he went like some kind of ruler from on high.
“I pay very little attention to legal rules, statutes, constitutional provisions,” Judge Richard Posner told the New York Times on Monday. “A case is just a dispute. The first thing you do is ask yourself — forget about the law — what is a sensible resolution of this dispute?”
Posner told The Times that when he ran into a case decision that went against his personal views, he often would look for ways get around the law. He called this approach being “pragmatic”:
He called his approach to judging pragmatic. His critics called it lawless. “I pay very little attention to legal rules, statutes, constitutional provisions,” Judge Posner said. “A case is just a dispute. The first thing you do is ask yourself — forget about the law — what is a sensible resolution of this dispute?”
The next thing, he said, was to see if a recent Supreme Court precedent or some other legal obstacle stood in the way of ruling in favor of that sensible resolution. “And the answer is that’s actually rarely the case,” he said. “When you have a Supreme Court case or something similar, they’re often extremely easy to get around.”
It’s pretty chickensh*t that he’s admitting that his constitutional oath meant nothing, that he creatively looked for ways to work around the U.S. Constitution and the law — now that he’s retired. It’s also outrageous that someone with this anti-American, anti-freedom philosophy can serve in the judicial system without being impeached.
Judicial tyrants who think they are our rulers — like Judge Richard Posner — need to be brought down a notch.
Sadly, there are many more out there like him and you cannot have a free country with unelected rulers making up the law as they go along. It’s time for the people to rise up against these wannabe kings.
Why should this man get a pension when he admits that he violated his oath of office, then walks out the door thumbing his nose at the American people?
