The Lawsuit San Francisco is Settling Illustrates the Absurdity of the Left Coast

If this isn’t yet another reason to ban sanctuary cities in America, then I don’t know what is.

It’s bad enough that liberal cities across America, especially in Washington, California, and New York, want to thumb their nose at federal immigration laws while simultaneously speaking about the “rule of law” when criticizing President Trump’s constitutional travel ban which, according to even liberal constitutional professor Alan Dershowitz, is completely within his authority as president. But their warped and misplaced allegiance to illegals instead of the American citizens cities are supposed to serve is downright disturbing, dangerous, and, as this lawsuit indicates, costly.

San Francisco, California is one of the most notorious “sanctuary cities.” It was in San Francisco that Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal. To add further insult to the loss of her  beautiful and vibrant life, then director of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, when asked about Steinle’s murder, said he didn’t know who she was. No one in the Obama White House contacted the Steinle family.

The Democrat Media Complex, as always, deflected away from the illegal who killed her to acting as defense attorneys for all other illegals by lecturing how we can’t blame all illegals for the actions of one. (Though illegals who have been deported numerous times have very frequently killed American citizens. Democrats not only ignore that fact but refused to be in the room when families of people killed by illegals testified before Congress.)

Now, here’s the lawsuit that San Francisco is settling that is beyond absurd.

In a move that will make you so mad you’ll see red, sanctuary city San Francisco is set to pay Pedro Figueroa-Zarceno, an illegal alien, $190,000 of taxpayer money. The city is settling with him based upon his argument that his “undocumented” status was reported to ICE officers but should not have been since San Francisco is supposed to be a “sanctuary city.”

While it is not completely finalized, the local CBS affiliate reports that it is expected to to be finalized and announced soon.

In defending the settlement, John Coté, a spokesman for the Office of San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera, said, “This proposed settlement is a fair resolution for all of the parties involved.” He then defended sanctuary cities claiming that it helps keep people safe. (I guess he doesn’t know the name Kate Steinle, either.)

“San Francisco has strong policies in place to encourage victims and witnesses to report crimes without fear of being deported, which include our sanctuary ordinance. These policies are designed to foster respect and trust between law enforcement and residents to ensure our communities are safe. The City, including the Police Department, remain committed to them.”

The San Francisco Police Department also released the following statement thumbing their nose at immigration laws and protecting made-up rights for illegals.

“It is the policy of the San Francisco Police Department to foster trust and cooperation with all people of the City and to encourage them to communicate with SFPD officers without fear of inquiry regarding their immigration status.”

Note to self….do not visit San Francisco. It is clear that city officials and even the police department value the lives and made-up rights of illegals before Americans.
