In 1997, Joe Biden’s presidential bid ended in disgrace when he suspended his campaign after being caught plagiarizing. Biden had been accused of plagiarizing in the past. This time, however, it wasn’t a paper but rather a speech…almost word for word. Despite that political stain, Biden continued to serve in the senate and launched another unsuccessful presidential bid in 2008.
That year, he lost the nomination but went on to become the running mate, then vice president, to Barack Obama.
Biden made the decision to not run for president in 2016 but the formation of a PAC, called American Possibilities, by Biden is leading to speculation whether he plans to run for president in 2020.
The Hill reports that the PAC will be run by Greg Schultz who was formerly an aide in Biden’s vice presidential office. Beyond that, Schultz also worked on Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008 and his re-election bid in 2012.
President Trump isn’t the only reason that Biden is ramping up his involvement in the Democrat party, with plans to give speeches, nurture donors, and contribute to candidates in upcoming election cycles. Biden is also reportedly upset with Hillary Clinton’s stunning electoral loss to Trump.
While speaking at SALT Hedge Funds in Las Vegas earlier this month, Biden criticized Clinton saying, “I never thought she was a great candidate,” he said. “I thought I was a great candidate.”
He apparently did go on to say that he thought Hillary would have been a good president though he did not believe she was a good messenger for the Democrat Party. Hillary’s campaign ignored middle America and the working class as she chose to party with coastal elites instead.
Adding fuel to the potential presidential run fire, Politico referenced an article by Biden that will be published by Medium on Thursday morning.
“Thinking big is stamped into the DNA of the American soul,” Biden wrote in a post that will go live on Medium in the morning. “That’s why the negativity, the pettiness, the small-mindedness of our politics today drives me crazy. It’s not who we are.”
Biden must have forgotten who he served with as vice president for eight years. Barack Obama spoke soaring rhetoric while simultaneously attacking anyone he viewed as a political enemy, even if it was a small business owner who happened to belong to their local Tea Party.
What do you think about the possibility of Joe Biden running for president? One thing is certain, CNN will likely ignore his numerous instances of plagiarism in order to provide cover for the Democrat party. After all, it’s what they do.
