Progressive leftist Democrat Congressman Al Green promised on Tuesday to force a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump and the vote has taken place.
“Friends, whether we like it or not, we now have a bigot in the White House who incites hatred and hostility,” Rep. Green, a five-term congressman representing Texas’s 9th Congressional District, wrote in a letter to colleagues Tuesday explaining his articles of impeachment. “The question isn’t whether we have a bigot as president. The question is: What are we going to do about it?” he asked.
“I love my country,” Green wrote. “For this reason, I will bring articles of impeachment to a vote in the House of Representatives.”
On Wednesday, the impeachment vote took place and Green — as well as the entire Democrat Party — must be utterly embarrassed by the failed results.
With many Democrats joining Republicans, the House of Representatives voted 364-58 against impeaching President Trump. No Republicans voted for the measure and only 58 Democrats voted for impeachment.
There are 194 Democrat members of the 110th Congress.
Former Speaker of the House and current Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi both voted against impeachment and spoke out against Green’s impeachment resolution, stating that the timing isn’t right.
“The President has made statements and taken actions that are beyond the pale for most Americans, embracing those who espouse hatred and division while promoting policies that would harm our economy and undermine our national security,” Pelosi said in a joint statement with Minority Whip Steny Hoyer on Wednesday. “Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment.”
Al Green’s impeachment resolution hilariously accused President Trump of producing “a demonstrable record of inciting white supremacy, sexism, bigotry, hatred, xenophobia, race-baiting, and racism by demeaning, defaming, disrespecting, and disparaging women and certain minorities,” among other things.
Another leader in the impeachment movement, left-wing lunatic Maxine Waters, has accused the President of “collusion, obstruction of justice, money laundering,” etc.
Waters stubbornly refuses to provide evidence to back up her accusations but thinks Trump should admit his guilt anyway.
